For his first solo exhibition, Lennart Schweigert is presenting a series of paintings dedicated to a limited constellation of motifs: a tree, a house and an atmosphere. This idealising landscape is full of connotations ranging from cultural conditioning and psychological contextualization to climate-political narratives. Through continuous variation, these familiar symbols detach themselves from their charged interpretations and emerge as independent subjects. In almost ritualistic iterations, the series of paintings appear like afterimages, flickering between memory and construction, between individual perception and collective pictorial history. Schweigert's painterly nuancing is demonstrated in atmospheric tensions wherein the subjects of the motifs seem to be constantly negotiating their relationships to one another.
